Tabletop Day Announcement

Here's the latest announcement regarding the St. John's International Tabletop Day Celebration taking place this Saturday on March 30th:

Taking the Opportunity to Thank our amazing sponsor Bob Hong, Timemasters Inc who release this statement in address to St. John’s Tabletop event:

“We are so very pleased to participate in this public event showcasing the games of today. In today’s technologically advanced age we’ve perhaps forgotten the joy (and necessity) of playing games with others. Some forty to fifty years ago as children we played a variety of games both inside and outdoors and through play we learned something about how to reason and follow rules and how we should interact with others. Today’s wide range of tabletop games are better than ever and we hope that the showcase can spark, or even rekindle, an interest in the games that we love so much.”

We will be raising money and board games for the Newfoundland Autism society who released this statement:

“The organizers of International Tabletop day in St. John’s have generously decided to hold a 50/50 raffle at the event, with proceeds to be donated to the Autism Society of Newfoundland and Labrador (ASNL).
The Autism Society of Newfoundland and Labrador (ASNL) is a provincial charitable organization dedicated to promoting the development of individual, lifelong, and community-based supports and services for people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), their families, and caregivers.
Program Coordinators at ASNL’s Social Thinking program often use table top games as a tool to encourage healthy social interaction and learning in their weekly groups.

“Board games are a great way for our clients to practice the kinds of social skills we talk about and teach in Social Thinking; skills like taking turns, listening to others, how to work together to achieve goals, follow rules, and how to interact in a group just to name a few. Plus, tabletop games have been a fun, interactive, and effective way to teach concepts without making clients feel like we are lecturing them.” says Dayna Vey, one of
ASNL’s Social Thinking Coordinator’s.

ASNL would like to thank the event organizers, and all donations to ASNL are used to provide programs and services to individuals and families affected by autism in Newfoundland and Labrador.”
